Many Bangladeshi families are told to show very large balances, or to “arrange” a loan for the visa file. That advice causes refusals. Here is what INZ asks for.
| Requirement | What INZ asks for |
|---|---|
| Tuition | Paid for 1 year or 1 programme, whichever is shorter. Applicants outside New Zealand can ask for approval in principle and pay after INZ approves. |
| Living costs | NZD 20,000 for each year of study, or NZD 1,667 a month if the study is shorter than a year. |
| Outward travel | A ticket out of New Zealand, or enough extra money to buy one. |
| Education loans | Sanction and disbursal letters from a nationalised or multinational bank, secured against your own fixed assets, showing security, moratorium, interest and repayments. |
| Deposits | Deposits over NZD 2,000, many smaller deposits, or recently opened accounts must be explained with evidence of where the money came from. |
| Not accepted | Screenshots of transfers and receipts from education agents as proof of tuition paid. |
A simple example
For a one-year programme with tuition of NZD 30,000, a student would plan for the tuition (paid before or after approval in principle), NZD 20,000 for living costs, and outward travel. Every taka must come from a source the family can prove with bank records and income evidence.
Plan the later years now
A visa is normally issued for the period you have paid for. For a longer programme, you apply again later and show funds for that period, so decide now how your family will pay for each year.
Amounts can change. We check INZ before every application. Get a free assessment of your funding plan.
